This one’s for the HTC Hero/G2 users.
One thing I’ve noticed since I started using the phone, is that the wi-fi is turned off when the device enters sleep mode. It comes back on again shortly after you wake the phone up, but the device still uses the mobile data services during sleep mode to update any web-based apps (such as email, Twitter and the lke). For those who are concerned about keeping their mobile data usage down to a minimum, using the wi-fi based internet access during sleep mode would be preferable. Thankfully, HTC have made setting this up straightforward. Here’s how:-
Go to Menu > Settings > Wireless Controls > Wi-Fi Settings > Push the hard Menu button > Advanced > Select Wi-Fi Sleep Policy and & one of the following:
When screen turns off
Never when plugged in
Never
Bear in mind that having the wi-fi stay on during sleep will obviously chew up more of your battery than having it off.
Fantastic! you just saved me going over my monthly limit :p
