A T-Mobile representative has announced on the T-Mobile forums that the official T-Mobile version of the new HTC Hero/G2 ROM will be ready within 10 days if testing and implementation goes well. The T-Mobile rep said:-
“Hi everyone,First of(f) thanks for all of your comments, good and bad we do care and we needed to ask a few internal questions so that we could give you the right answer.
The G2 update was initially scheduled for release at the end of October / early November. However, as a result of your feedback on our forum this is no longer the case. Subsequently:· The update is currently undergoing intensive testing as part of an accelerated activity
· We expect to release the update to you within the next 10 days
· We will give you an update on Weds afternoon as to how this is going and confirm the timelinesWe can also confirm that the update will be available via a download and not as an OTA (over the air) update. It will be available through the T-Mobile website and we’ll post the link to it in the forums as soon as it’s available.
Thanks again for all your feedback, please keep it coming and we’ll update again on Weds.
Cheers, T-Mobile Forum Team”
So, at least now T-Mobile users have a rough timescale for how long they’ll have to wait. It remains to be seen as to whether T-Mob can actually meet the deadline they’ve imposed on themselves.
