Android 1.6 officially released

T-Mobile in the US have started rolling out Donut, Android 1.6, as an over the air update for G1 and MyTouch 3G users.  If previous Android updates from T-Mobile are anything to go by, we should start to see the UK version appearing over the next week or two, with the Euro version emerging a further week or two after that.  As yet, I’ve not heard when we’re likely to see Android being made available for the HTC Hero (or the Samsung i7500 for that matter).
As a semi-related aside, today is the last day of T-Mobile UK’s 10 day timescale for providing the latest HTC Hero update.  It’ll be interesting to see if the update materialises, but there has been some speculation that T-Mobile had planned to release the Hero update at the same time as the Android 1.6 update.  We’ll just have to wait and see.  As soon as I hear anything on either front, I’ll post it here.
