I connect to a Linksys regularly without any issues. Have you tried working through the steps in the article above? If so, could you tell me the results you see across each step?
You're quite correct on point 3, it could be that there's an app causing the problem, so a factory reset probably would be worth a try. If it connects straight after a reset (with no additional apps installed), then you know it's an app thing. Then start re-installing your apps one by one.

Here's one for you,
I got my hero in august last year and had no problems at all on any WiFi networks.
Since Christmas time when my old D-link router gave up the ghost and I had to replace it with a Linksys one, my phone has started to have problems.
Now any network I connect to it will tell me it is connected but it won't actually let me use the internet through it.
The same problem applies to my home network; a WiFi network in the pub where I work and also the network that is set up in the Cisco lab at the college I go to.

I can't be sure when the problem started because I use HSDPA quite a lot however I know for sure that I had connectivity without any problems on all of these networks in the past.

Possible problems I think could be:
1. I updated Android firmware to 1.6 or whatever it was they brought out a while back. Although I didn't notice the problem until the start of this year.

2. My home router is Lynksys... which is apparently made by Cisco; The Cisco lab at college will be using a Cisco router and I'm not sure but I think the router at work is possibly a Linksys. So possibly a problem with Cisco stuff.

3. Maybe there is a problem with one of the apps I have installed. I will try wiping and starting fresh when I get the time and inclination.

I'm hoping that when the Android 2.1 update comes out this problem is resolved! Otherwise I'm going to have to get the phone replaced.

Hi there,
If I'm understanding this correctly, you were finding that, after running through the changes suggested by HTC support (ie the hardware reset etc), you were able to connect to wireless for a short spell of aaround 45 minutes? If so, were you installing any apps between the reset and the phone playing up? It is very possible that one of the apps is causing the problem. Try doing a factory reset and running the phone as is for a day or so. If it stays up, then start installing apps one by one, giving them an hour or two between installing the next one.
Also, have you worked through the suggestions in the article above? If so, could you let me know the results you're seeing at each stage and I'm sure I can help you work out where the problem lies. If you go through those steps and a clean install of the phone OS (with no additional apps installed) is still failing, then there's no way that they can refuse to swap out your unit.

changed over router back to my old trusty Belkin G and it worked fine, found it and connected without a prob, you are right it dosen't like the N's does it! Is there a way of me having the G and the N on at the same time (like could I have the belkin on as like a sub network-say if I plug it in to port 1 of the D-link or something like that? Could run the Hero on that then I can still have the Faster Connection for my laptop-would that work?

was just about to have a look a them. So Would I be better using my old G router then? /my computers are g and they have no prob connecting to the network, so surely it is already in compatibility mode for B/G isn't it? How do you do that on my router?

Have checked for the latest firmware and it seems I already have it, it isn't that old really.

Have you worked through the suggestions in the article above? If so, could you tell me your findings at each step? Wireless N networks aren't supported by the Hero, and it does tend to cause issues. If you router has B/G compatibility mode, it might be worth trying it
