InfoWorld are reporting that Android OS pioneers HTC saw a drop in revenue of 10% for the third quarter of 2009, with it’s net profit dropping from $6.99 billion to $5.70 billion. Expert analysts have put the drop in earnings down to increased competition in the smartphone market from the likes of the iPhone 3GS.
HTC themselves have stated that sales are growing in the US, but are weaker in Europe and they have stated they plan to strengthen their marketing efforts in Europe in an attempt to overturn this. With the HTC Dragon coming at some point in the next few months, and the Windows Mobile based HTC HD2 getting very favourable reviews it’s likely that any marketing push will strongly feature those two devices.
