Review – Armored Strike
Time for another review. Up this time is Armored Strike, by Requiem Software Labs Inc. Armored Strike is a turn based artillery game in the same format as Scorched Earth and Worms. The object being to fire various weaponry at, and ultimately destroy, the opposition. As in earlier games of this ilk, you’ve to use your judgement (and, I found, more than a little trial and error) to get the firing gradient and velocity just right to hit your targets. Here’s the description from the Android Market-
Get behind the turret and lock your sites on your enemies, this is going to be an epic battle! Battle human and computer across 3 different terrains with multiple wind conditions. Master all eighteen weapons and if you have no other choice you may be forced to deploy the nuclear option.
1.17 – More weapons! Improved Napalm
The game looks pretty good graphically, one of the best looking Android titles I’ve seen in fact, and the game engine itself seems to work well – I certainly had no force closes or bugginess during testing. Gameplay is entertaining, but initially frustrating; it takes a few plays through before you get your head round the angles and velocities you should try using, which is fair enough, but the AI controlled teams seemed to have little problems on that front. I also occasionally found scrolling across the 2-D screen was a little sluggish and fiddly on my Hero.
In game, the number of weapon choices is impressive. I found Napalm a particularly satisfying weapon to use. You can play against other human players rather than AI-controlled ones, but only by handing the phone to each player when it’s their turn – there’s no network play as yet, which is a shame as I’m sure this would be hugely popular.
Overall though, I’ve been quite impressed with Armored Strike. It’s a polished and well put together game and once you’re used to the firing mechanics, you’ll soon find yourself cackling madly as your napalm strike lands right on top of some poor sap. Burn! Burn! BURN!

It’s pretty fun and the controls are good. It takes a while to get the hang of landing shots accurately though. – (3 out of 5 stars)
Good game it has me hooked for now but I can see it being a bit boring after a while. With some work on game play it could be a great game inthe future – (4 out of 5 stars)
Decent game. Game play a little slow. Not a $4 game. – (3 out of 5 stars)
This is by far the best artillery game on android, I would strongly recommend buying it – (5 out of 5 stars)
