Gigabyte branch in to the Android mobile market
Gigabyte will release a low-end Android-powered addition to their GSmart mobile range at some point in the next few weeks. The phone, which will be the first Android device to join the, until now, exclusively Windows Mobile based GSmart stable, apparently doesn’t even have an official name as yet. Mobile-review managed to scoop the first images of the device (shown above). It’s not a bad looking phone, but the technical specs which have been revealed thus far are thoroughly uninspiring-
- 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display
- 2-megapixel auto-focus camera
- GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity
- Qualcomm ESM7225 528 MHz CPU
- 256MB RAM, and 512MB of internal memory.
- G-sensor (accelerometer)
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0,
- 3.5mm audio jack
- microSD slot
- microUSB port
- 1,500 mAh battery
Clearly this is aimed at the entry level smartphone market, but then not everyone needs a ‘superphone’, right?
