Haleron follow iLet Mini with Android tablet

26 February 2010 2 Comments

South American tech manufacturers Haleron are set to follow up the  iLet Mini, a tablet running Windows CE, with the Android 1.6 powered iLet Mini HAL.  The iLet Mini HAL will sport a 600MH processor, 128MB of RAM, a 7-inch 800 x 480 WVGA display, 2GB internal storage with an SD memory card slot for up to 32GB of additional storage and connectivity to external hard drives via two onboard USB ports.  There are also the obligatory Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections.

The device also has onboard stereo speakers, with additional audio ports if the onboard speakers don’t  satisfy the audiophile in you.  It’s apparently going to come in either black or white and features a custom version of Android, known as Ocean Android, which will be interesting to see in action.  It also seems, unusually for a tablet, to use a portrait orientation.

The Haleron iLet Mini HAL should be available direct from Haleron’s (slightly dodgy looking) site for a temptingly low $199 from March 1st.

UPDATE- We’re starting to see some doubts being cast on the authenticity of this tablet (see comments). We’re going to investigate further and report back our findings – See here

Hello, I am sad to say this one seems to be a scam and not a real device.

You might want to keep your post but update it as an Android scam.

    See here: http://netbookboards.com/2010/03/01/an-android-tablet-drama-the-haleron-ilet-mini-hal/

The picture you reproduced here is the only one available in their site, and while they are already taking orders there does not seem to be any actual product.

Let’s us know if you follow up on this.
