HTC Hero wins another Phone of the Year award
Whilst starting to look a little old next to it’s younger cousins, the Nexus One and the DROID, the HTC Hero is still picking up the awards. Yesterday, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona a special ceremony for the Global Mobile Awards 2010 took place. The HTC Hero beat off competition from the Nokia N97, Blackberry Bold 9700 and Samsung’s Star and Omnia HD phones to scoop the Phone of the Year 2010 award. It’s not quite clear why neither the iPhone 3GS or the Motorola DROID/Milestone, the obvious choices for Phone of the Year, were nominated. I daresay HTC won’t be complaining though.
One of the other winners on the night was Apple’s own Steve Jobs, who scooped the Mobile Industry Personality of the Year. Clearly those who voted for him chose to turn a blind eye to his recent baffling outbursts…
