Polarbit achieve 1 million Android downloads

9 March 2010 No Comment

Given that there were grumblings towards the end of last year from some games developers (eg Gameloft) that they were moving away from developing for Android due to poor sales, it’s nice to hear of an Android gaming success story.  Mobile games developers Polarbit today released a statement that their Android games have surpassed 1 million downloads from the Android Market.  Polarbit are the team behind some very popular 3D games such as Raging Thunder and Armageddon Squadron.

Polarbit surpass one million Android downloads

Stockholm, Sweden – Polarbit, noted cross-platform mobile game developers, announced today that their applications have exceeded one million total downloads on Googles Android Market.

The announcement follows hot on the heals of Polarbits millionth Ovi Store download in early February. Polarbit are now one of an exclusive few, possibly the only, developers to have seen more than one million downloads on each of the big three mobile platforms – Symbian, Android and iPhone. This goes to show Polarbits strength as multiplatform developers, and their dedication to support as wide a range of platforms as possible.

Not satisfied by resting on their laurels however, Polarbit will continue to expand platform support in their middleware platform Fuse to ensure they reach as many gamers as possible, and are looking forward to breaking the million download mark on many further platforms in the future.

So, for those companies who complained that their Android sales are poor; clearly the market is lucrative for some people, perhaps it comes down to the product?
