Ok. I know the iPad thing has gotten a lot of people pretty excited, but I’m in serious danger of to losing track of all the Android tablets that are supposed to be coming out over the coming months (and let’s not even mention those that have been promised yet don’t even seem to actually exist like this one). Most of them seem to be of around the same sort of spec too – a 5″ 800×480 screen, MicroSD expansion, built-in speakers and support for 720p playback. So, you’ll forgive me for not being even remotely surprised that Italian tech manufacturers Pasen have announced that they will be adding to the list with their MID5 tablet. Just in case you can’t guess at it’s technical specs, here they are: the Pasen MID5 will have a 5″ 800×480 screen, MicroSD expansion, built-in speakers, support for 720p playback….and an HDMI port. All packaged up for the reasonably low cost of around $200US. It’ll be interesting to see if any one tablet emerges from amidst these largely uniform specs as a leader. I suspect it’s going to come down to who markets the most aggresively.

I am distinctly underwhelmed…. If i had to choose between one of these and a HTC Desire i would go Desire (for mobile browsing).. if i hand a candybar phone unsuited to browsing, then i would get a 7″+ device as its hardly different portability wise.
I want a netbook replacement for easy browsing, but not when its screen is barely bigger than some phones on the market.
