According to information passed to midbbs (translated from the Chinese), Chinese manufacturers Aigo are going to be releasing two new Android powered tablets. The E500 and E700 will have 5 inch (E500) and 7 inch (E700) multi-touch capacitive screens, and will be running Android 1.6 (which, despite it’s age, is still 0.1 versions higher than HTC Hero owners are currently running, not that we’re bitter…). The devices will support all the usual networking support as well as 720p video playback via the onboard Rockchip RK2808 chip. There are various onboard storage capacity sizes to choose from, ranging from 4GB up to 16GB and there will also be support for additional storage via MicroSD.

These are pretty slick looking devices, and, with a retail price of around $220 US (or about £143), we expect these devices to sell pretty well. The information suggests it should be available around May time, which should put it in direct competition with Archos’ Home Tablet range of low cost tablets.
