Rumors about a new HTC tablet are making rounds in cyberspace lately. The 10 inch big brother of the HTC Flyer will be named HTC Puccini, after Giacomo Puccini, a 19th century opera composer. This may signal the new naming scheme for HTC’s Android Tablets also, as talks of an HTC Verdi tablet is also in the works.
HTC Puccini is said to feature a 10 inch 1280 x 800 WXGA display with the standard capacitive touchscreen, similar to the XOOM and other typical Honeycomb slates on the market. What sets this tablet apart is that it uses the next generation Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8660 1.5 Ghz Dual core processor, that promises 5x the performance of the original Snapdarggon processor, and 4x graphics performance but uses 75% less power.
In addition, the Puccini comes with a front facing camera, bluetooth connectivity and we also learned that it will be capable of supporting AT&T’s 4G LTE network which is set for an official launch anytime this summer. Being so, we are looking at the possibility of a simultaneous launch in the US for this device. For other regions, such as Europe and Asia Pacific, we’d like to believe that HTC has its plans of rolling out the Puccini’s GSM version just like what they did with the Flyer. It is not clear, however, if HTC will also release a Wi-Fi only version of the Puccini.
Similar to the HTC Flyer, this tablet seem to also include HTC Scribe, a digital “Magic Pen” stylus input, as a prominent icon for notes indicate on the home screen. The rumored screenshot shows the Honeycomb version Sense UI.
Well, we can say that HTC’s promise of bringing in at least two more tablets within the year is more or less apparent by now. To date, no news about the pricing is available, but is said to be definitely coming out by the 3rd quarter of 2011. [via 911sniper]
