Just in time for the holiday shopping, Ainovo NOVO7 is now on sale in China and can be purchased online anywhere in the world via Ainol Electronics Co., Ltd.’s website. This was announced by MIPS Technologies, a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital home, networking and mobile applications, together with Ingenic Semiconductor, a leading China-based CPU provider for mobile multimedia applications. According to the press release, the Ainovo NOVO7 will soon be hitting the store shelves in the the US as well as selected regions in the coming months.
Aside from being the world’s first tablet device to come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Ainovo NOVO7 is handsomely priced as it is being sold for less than $100 USD or £60 UK making it more attractive to techies and Android fans. This slate uses Ingenic JZ4770 mobile applications processor which is known to provide impressive performance as it leverages a MIPS-BasedTM XBurstTM CPU running at 1GHz.
Another strong feature of the NOVO7 is that it uses capacitive multi-touch screen considering its less expensive price range. Initially, the tablet will be available in 7-inch variant as the 8″ and 9″ models are expected to come out in the near future. Other notable specs include 4GB internal storage, front and rear cameras, 30-hour battery life on standby, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n support, USB 2.0, HDMI 1.3 and microSD slots, impressive 3D graphics courtesy of the Vivante GC860 GPU and capable of 1080p video decoding.
