Android rootkit to be demonstrated at Defcon

Security researchers Christian Papathanasiou and Nicholas Percoco, from tech security firm Trustwave, have announced that they plan on demonstrating an Android rootkit at the Defcon hackers conference in July. The rootkit, which can be activated silently via an incoming SMS or phone call, is apparently a port of an existing Linux rootkit.
“You call the phone, the phone doesn’t ring, and when the phone realizes that it’s being called by an attacker’s phone number, it sends him back a shell”

Enso Zenpad Update

Following on from their apology at the beginning of April, Enso have released another update for those folks still anxious to see if the low cost tablet will arrive, or if it’s (as some are beginning to fear) nothing more than vaporware.
Here’s what they had to say (incidentally, the apology at the start of the email is because many people received the exact same email multiple times, we at This Android Life received it 21 times in total):-
Dear Customers, We apologize for those who already got the same email. …
